Internships

Language Instructors & Curriculum Developers: ESL, Spanish, Italian, Mandarin

Volunteer interns will gain experience teaching and help design lesson plans for our intensive, immersion language classes in ESL, Spanish, Italian, or Mandarin. Interns will develop leadership, curriculum development and teaching skills by participating in our Language Instructor Training Program, which emphasizes our intensive, immersion teaching methods that focus on student engagement.

Our current projects include designing materials for and/or teaching:

  • ESL courses in Boston learning centers to empower underserved communities

  • Medical Spanish courses to improve communication between doctors and patients

  • Foreign language classes for the Boston community

We offer teaching opportunities that have a direct positive impact in the Boston community for interns interested in gaining meaningful, hands-on teaching experience.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

  • Fluency in the target language (Spanish, Italian, Mandarin or English)

  • Strong interest in languages, teaching and education

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • A proactive work ethic and professional demeanor

  • Ability to work in a collaborative setting and willingness to accept constructive feedback

  • Creative, friendly, energetic personality

Internship positions are available for both Fall and Spring 2015 and require a minimum commitment of 10-15 hours per week, with some work done remotely.

Note: We also offer the option of participating in this internship for class credit.
